Blown Call?

by Luke & Ryan
On a night game against the Cleveland Indians the Detroit Tigers pitcher Galarraga almost threw a perfect game. It was a blown call that ruined it. The call came when it was a grounder to the second baseman and was perfectly fielded. The throw to first was fired over to Galarraga who was covering first base to get the out. He was out by a step but the umpire Jim Joyce called it safe. The manager of the Detroit Tigers came out to argue the call but the umpire's call stood. After a ton of replays Jim Joyce apologized to Galarraga. Joyce was in tears the next day saying "I feel bad for this kid, my call cost him his perfect game."
We at Sport Shock think this is the most shocking story of the week. Only 20 people have thrown a perfect game. This kid worked hard and it was blown in one call. More people have orbit the moon than thrown a perfect game. He could have been added to a list of greats. But what was more amazing was that he didn't lose his temper. Will this game change the debate about instant replay?
